ELECTION INFORMATION

 

The next General Municipal Election of the City of Petaluma will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 to elect three City Council Members to serve four-year terms. A candidate must be a registered voter in the City of Petaluma at the time nomination papers are issued. 

 

Nomination Period


The candidate nomination period for the November 8, 2016 General Municipal Election opens at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2016 and closes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2016, unless extended. Nomination papers will be available at the City Clerk's office during the period listed above (closed 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for lunch). Note that although City Hall is closed on Fridays, the City Clerk’s Office will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (closed 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. for lunch) on Friday, August 12th. Please contact the City Clerk’s Office to schedule an appointment to receive nomination papers. 
 
The candidate nomination period will be extended five (5) days, until Wednesday, August 17, 2016, if any eligible incumbent does not file nomination papers by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2016.

Candidate Information

 

The 2016 Candidate Information List will be updated as individuals file a Candidate Intention Statement (FPPC Form 501) or Statement of Organization for a Recipient Committee (FPPC Form 410), and as nomination papers are filed. The materials submitted by each candidate are available for public review at the City Clerk's Office following the close of nominations in August 2016.
