Chief of Police Dan Fish

Police Chief Dan Fish has been with the Petaluma Police Department since 1989. Before being promoted to Chief, Dan served as a Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain. Dan has worked in several different assignments over the years including Patrol, Investigations, Narcotics, Alcohol Enforcement, SWAT, Field Training Program, Hostage Negotiations and the Firearms Training Program as an instructor.

Police Chief Fish graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Dan holds several state certificates including the POST Management Certificate and the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society Leadership Development Program. Dan is a graduate of the POST Executive Development Course, POST Command College and the West Point Leadership Program.

Police Chief Fish is active in the Petaluma community by serving on the Board of Directors of the Polly Klaas Foundation and the McDowell Drug Task Force. Police Chief Fish serves on the Executive Panel for Law Enforcement Training in Sonoma County and is also an active member of the Petaluma Elks Lodge #901.
