LIEUTENANT Dan Fish
Lieutenant Dan Fish was born and raised in Sonoma County and has been with the Petaluma Police Department since 1989. Lt. Fish has previous experience with the Sacramento Police Department and the Santa Rosa Junior College Campus Police. He has served this organization in a wide variety of assignments over the years including Patrol, Investigations, Narcotics, Street Crimes, Alcohol Enforcement, SWAT, Field Training Program, Hostage Negotiations and a certified instructor in Firearms and Driving tactics. Lt. Fish served as the interim Police Chief from 2009 to 2012.
Lieutenant Fish graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and has completed post graduate work at California State University, Los Angeles and the University of Virginia. He holds several CA State certificates including the POST Management Certificate and the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society Leadership Development Program. Lt. Fish is a graduate of the POST Executive Development Course, POST Command College and the West Point Leadership Program. Lt. Fish is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy session #263.
Lieutenant Fish is very involved in the Petaluma and Sonoma County community. Lt. Fish currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Marin and Southern Sonoma County (Petaluma), the Advisory Board for the Mentor Me organization and as the President of the Board for the Polly Klaas Foundation. Lt. Fish serves as a District #2 representative for the Sonoma County Board of Supervisor’s Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board. Lt. Fish is a youth mentor for the Mentor Me program in Petaluma and is also a member of the Petaluma Rotary Club.
