New, February 2016 - Visit our online crime mapping site, Community Crime Map.
The success of our community rests in the success of our residents, businesses, schools, churches, community organizations and our social service providers, to name a few.
The success of our community also rests in the success of the Petaluma Police Department. It is only through collaboration and mutual respect among our employees, residents, businesses and visitors that we can maintain and improve the quality of life that Petaluma richly enjoys.
I am convinced that a collaborative approach to what we call “Petaluma Policing” will be the foundation upon which we build this Department into the future.
Petaluma Policing is the pursuit of excellence in everything we say, do and promote; it is the pursuit of excellence in our words, deeds and practices.
Petaluma Policing is proactive at its core; proactive in assessing issues, proactive in developing thoughtful, comprehensive problem solving and most important, proactive in fighting crime.
Our crime fighting efforts will be action oriented and results focused. We will address crimes of violence, the incursion of gang activity, the harmful effects of illicit drugs and the significant financial losses as a result of property crimes.
We will use our best thinking; intelligence led policing, in support of our crime fighting efforts. Using historical information and street level knowledge we can make data actionable. Once this data is in the hands of our front line troops we can make our community safer and measure our results.
Petaluma Policing is community centric. Our organization exists to serve our community.
Petaluma Policing is focused on finding purposeful ways to connect with our residents, businesses, and visitors in service with our community.
Petaluma Policing looks for innovative ways to leverage existing resources to benefit more than we can individually.
Most important Petaluma Policing exists to improve our community’s quality of life. Nurturing and enhancing the rich history and amenities Petalumans have come to enjoy. Exciting things are happening in Petaluma and the police department will be a partner in helping the city thrive, safely and successfully.
