Captain Dave Sears
Captain Dave Sears has been with The Petaluma Police Department since 1999. He came to the City of Petaluma as a Lieutenant after serving 12 years with the City of Benicia. Throughout his career Dave has worked in patrol, criminal investigations, SWAT, Field Training Program, and Administrative Services. Dave currently oversees the Patrol Division and Special Operations.
Dave obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration as well as a Masters of Public Administration from the California State University, Hayward. Dave currently holds several state certifications that include his management certificate. Dave is a Command College graduate and is certified as an instructor for the Phi Theta Kappa Leadership Program.
Dave is active in the community serving on the Petaluma Youth Network, the Sonoma County Housing Land Trust, and the Board of Directors for Healthy Community Consortium.
