'D' Street Bridge Openings: A minimum of four hours notice is required to make the necessary arrangements for the bridge to open. If contacting the City after working hours, (6:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M.), a minimum of twenty-four hours notice is required. Bridge openings can be arranged by contacting the following numbers:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.:

  • After hours, weekends, and holidays:
    Police Department - 707.778.4372

Street Repair: Call 707.778.4303

Inspection Services: Inspection Services is part of the Operations Division and responsible for inspecting private development and capital improvement projects. In addition to regular inspections, Inspection Services is responsible for approving encroachment permits, code enforcement within the public right of way as well as the administration of public utility permits for AT&T, PG&E, etc. Inspectors require contractors to conform to the latest industry and City construction standards to ensure the City accepts only the highest quality improvements.

Street Lights: If you should notice a problem with a street light, please contact us with the pole number, the nearest street address, cross street, the nature of the problem, and a return phone number. Call 707.778.4303

Street Signs: The Department of Public Works is responsible for all City of Petaluma street signs. Please contact us, should you notice that one is missing or damaged, at 707.778.4303.

Additionally, you may fill out an Operations Service Form.

Sandbags: Throughout the winter months, sand and sandbags are made available at no charge from an unmanned station located in front of the cement plant at the entrance to Hopper Street off of Lakeville. Shovels are provided for you to bag your own sand.
