Connection Fee Discount

Water Effieient Equipment Agreement

Petaluma City Resolution No. 2002 - 190 provides for a 50% reduction in wastewater connection fees for restaurants and laundromats that install and continue to use the most water efficient hardware, fixtures, appliances and systems. In order to qualify for this reduction, the applicant must install and continue to use the following required equipment:

Required Equipment
  • Pre-rinse nozzles. Pre-rinse nozzles must be 1.6 gpm with automatic shut-off trigger mechanism.
  • Ice Maker(s). Ice maker(s) must be air-cooled.
  • Dishwashers. High-temperature and low-temperature dishwashers must recycle the final rinse into the next wash cycle.
  • Bathroom Faucets. Bathroom faucets must be self-closing, low-volume (0.25 to 1.5 gpm per cycle or less) faucets.
  • Other Sink Faucets. Other sink faucet aerators must be 2.2 gpm or less.
  • Toilets. All toilets must be ultra-low-flush-toilets of 1.6 gpm per flush or less.
  • Washing Machines. Commercial washing machines must be high-efficient models.

In order to receive the 50% credit, the applicant must:

  1. Submit an equipment list to the Director of Water Resources and Conservation. The applicant may pay the wastewater connection fee at the 50% rate in order to obtain a building permit after the required equipment list is approved by the Director of Water Resources and Conservation and the conditions of this Agreement are accepted by the applicant
  2. Complete and sign this Agreement and return it to the Director of Water Resources and Conservation, and
  3. The applicant must contact the City of Petaluma’s Water Conservation Department at (707)778-4507 prior to completion of construction to schedule an inspection to ensure that the applicant has installed all of the required equipment. Failure to contact the Department for inspection and/or failure to meet the requirements set forth in this Agreement will result in applicant being liable for the remainder of the wastewater connection fee.
