Water-Wise House Calls

The City of Petaluma is pleased to offer residents FREE Water-Wise House Calls, a new program to help residents use water more efficiently. By using less water, you can lower your water, sewer, and energy costs.
With each Water-Wise House Call, a trained water efficiency professional will assess your current water usage, both indoors and out, and teach you how to save water by pointing out where savings can occur. Inside your home, faucets, showerheads and toilets will be checked for flow rates and leaks. We will provide you with free low-flow aerators, showerheads and applications for rebates on that old, water guzzling toilet or clothes washer.
Outside, your landscape will be measured and evaluated for water efficiency. We will test your sprinkler system and look for leaks, broken sprinkler heads, and identify areas of the system that may need maintenance or upgrade. You will learn what soil type you have and how it affects how much, or how little, you need to water to keep your landscape looking its best.
A typical Water-Wise House Call will take about an hour and a half. Once it is completed, you will have a comprehensive evaluation of your home's water using fixtures, appliances and irrigation equipment.
