Water Conservation Plan!
Water conservation is an essential key to maintaining the economic sustainability of the City and continuing to meet future potable water demands. The Water Supply and Demand Analysis (2006), conducted in support of the City of Petaluma’s General Plan 2025, described in detail the City’s long-term plan to meet potable water demands using a combination of potable water from the Sonoma County Water Agency, recycled water, water conservation, and ground water. The water conservation component included an expansion of the California Urban Water Conservation Council’s (CUWCC) Best Management Practices (BMP’s) to which the City of Petaluma is a signatory. The City Council directed staff to prepare a comprehensive Water Conservation Plan that considers water conservation measures that go beyond these BMPs.
