Zoning
The Zoning Ordinance implements the policies of the City of Petaluma's General Plan by classifying and regulating the uses of land and structures within the City of Petaluma. Among the specific development matters regulated by the Zoning Ordinance are:

• allowed uses of land and buildings
• building setbacks
• the height, bulk, number of stories and size of buildings
• parking requirements
• signs

Zoning Districts
The establishment of zoning districts in the Zoning Ordinance, such as residential and commercial/industrial districts, provide regulations regarding permitted, conditionally permitted, or specifically prohibited land uses and development standards for structures and land, depending on its location within the City. The designated zoning district for a particular structure or site is shown in the City's Zoning Maps located online through the online GIS portal.
